BYLAWS

1. Steve Sparks will be the president until he resigns.

2. Any problems arising concerning the club shall be addressed by one of the club officers.

3. The club bylaws can be revised whenever the club officers decide it is in the best interest of the club.

4. The president will make all final decisions on club matters.

5. Club dues will be $1000.00. A $500.00 deposit will be paid by May 1st, $250.00 to be paid by June 1st, with the remainder to be paid by July 1st. If dues are not paid in full by this date, member’s spot will be filled and you will lose your deposit. All membership dues are non-refundable.

6. NO DRINKING and HUNTING ALLOWED! If you do ANY drinking, you will not go back into the woods for any reason. If you are caught violating this rule, you will be expelled immediately and will not be allowed on club property again.

7. All animals harvested must be weighed live weight and field dressed weight and logged in on the harvest data sheet. Deer will NOT be skinned or quartered until entrails (guts) have been removed and properly weighed. Discard entrails in designated area, not behind the clubhouse.

8. Anyone caught sneaking a harvested animal off of club property will be expelled immediately and will not be allowed on club property again.

9. Each member will be required to sign in each morning and sign out at dark. Sign in time is 4:00 a.m., not before. Member must sign in before entering club property for any reason during all seasons of hunting.

10. No one will sign out for more than 20 acres of woods (hardwoods or pine thickets) at a time and no more than 80 acres in clear cuts. You must sign out and remain in that section until you have gone back to sign out for a new section. Each member / guest will be allowed to sign out one food plot only in the allotted section they sign out for.

11. No two people will sign out for the same section unless you go in together or know for certain that another member will be joining you at a later time.

12. Every member must close AND lock all gates when entering or leaving club property. There will be a $50.00 fine for anyone that is caught leaving gates open or unlocked.

13. Members will keep CLUB HOUSE, PROPERTY, and SHOOTING HOUSES clean. Please do not litter.

14. All ladder stands built of wood will be built by the club’s pattern. Manufactured ladder stands are acceptable. A chain or ratchet strap must be used to anchor it to a tree. NO NAILS, ROPES, or BOLTS SHALL BE USED. Shooting houses will be numbered and are for everyone’s use. All shooting houses are to remain un-locked, unless a club lock is put on it. All stands and houses become club property, and will not be removed unless approved by one of the club officers. EVERY member that uses a portable or a-climbing tree stand WILL have their name written on the stand in a visible place or stand will be removed immediately and brought to the clubhouse.


15. There will be absolutely no shooting from the road unless it is in the area you are signed out for. This includes entering and exiting club property and any area another member is signed out for. Anyone shooting from the road will have a $200.00 fine and an automatic 30-day suspension from hunting beginning at the time the infraction is reported. If infraction occurs with less than 30 days of hunting remaining in season, penalty will carry over to the beginning of gun season the following year.

16. There will be no shooting around the clubhouse area. If you want to sight in your firearm you must do so at the firing range.

17. There will be no vehicles or ATV’s driven on greenfields unless it is to retrieve a harvested animal.

18. There will be NO “Mud-Riding” on any roads, fire lanes, creeks, branches, streams or mud holes of any kind. This will not be tolerated by anyone.

19. There will be NO “Joy Riding” during deer or turkey season.

20. Feeding shall be done between May1st thru Oct.1st. All feed has to be removed by Oct. 1st.

DEER SEASON:

21. NO DOGS ALLOWED DURING DEER SEASON! The only exception to this is to use a trailing dog when looking for a deer that is down. Dog must be on a leash and not running loose.

22. All lower jawbones from deer must be removed before animal is taken from property, numbered, and put in the box. Everyone will fill out a jawbone tag and leave in the jawbone tag box inside the clubhouse. If the jawbone and tag are not returned, there will be a $50.00 fine for members and guest. Member will not be allowed to hunt until fine is paid and jawbones are returned. Member will be responsible for guest fine if not paid by the guest.

23. During deer season, Wednesday’s will be designated as a scouting day from 11:00 a.m. until dark. Everyone will be allowed to sign out up to 80 acres and it must be in one area. During deer season there will be NO riding and looking on any roads. Everyone will follow the shortest and most direct route to and from the stand or section they signed in for.

DEER MANAGEMENT:

24. Doe harvest for the 2008-2009 season:

Our goal is to harvest a total of 50 does from the property. This includes any taken during bow season. Once these numbers have been reached there will be no more does harvested. Guest will be allowed to harvest does.


1) Members may harvest two does on a food plot. Members’ final date to harvest does on a food plot will be January 15, 2009 unless an adequate number of does have not been harvested then it will be extended for the remainder of doe season.


2) Members’ wife may harvest two does on a food plot. Wife’s final date to harvest does on a food plot will be January 31, 2009.


3) Members’ children, under 18, may harvest two does on a food plot. Children’s final date to harvest a doe on a food plot will be January 31, 2009.

4) Guest may harvest 1 doe on a food plot only if it is a special circumstance such as an illness, age, or a handicap and must be approved by Steve, Bobby, OR Dale prior to the hunt.

Buck harvest for the 2008-2009 season:

Wives and children will be allowed to harvest 1 buck of choice, after that they must comply with our buck limits just as members. Children must be under 18 years of age to qualify.

MEMBERS:

FIREARMS: SIX POINT PROGRESSIVE: Member's first buck of the season may be a six point. Every buck after this must have FOUR points on one side, or be at least 3 1/2 years of age regardless of number of points.

BOW & ARROW: Any buck with a forked rack. NO SPIKES!!!!

DEER SEASON GUEST:

Guest may only harvest bucks with FOUR points on one side or any buck 3 1/2 years of age regardless of number of points.

25. No guest allowed:

On opening weekend of bow season
On opening weekend of gun season

26. Guest fee is $25 per day; this includes half-day hunts, and must be paid before the hunt. There is a harvest fee of $100 for all bucks harvested by a guest. NO EXCEPTIONS. Guest fee and harvest fee will be waived on children under 18. Member is responsible for guest / guest fee and explaining ALL rules.

27. Guest may hunt three times per season.

28. Any violation of club rules by a guest, he/she cannot hunt on club property anymore.

29. Member’s parents and adult children may come as a guest 3 times during deer season free of charge.

30. Members spouse may hunt for free. Rule #25 does NOT apply.

31. Member’s children may hunt for free (until their 18th birthday). Rule #25 does NOT apply.

TURKEY SEASON

Due to the timing of turkey season some of the rules may change before the beginning of turkey season. If you plan on hunting during this time please see Steve or Dale for an updated copy of the rules.

32. NO JAKES! With the exception of the special youth hunt for children under 16 years old.

TURKEY SEASON GUEST:

33. Guest must stay with member while on property.

34. There will be a guest fee of $25 whether they are carrying a gun or doing the calling. There will be a harvest fee of $50.00 for ALL turkeys harvested by a guest.


35. Member’s parents and adult children may come as a guest 3 times during turkey season free of charge.

WORK DAYS

Each member will be required to have a minimum of 25 hours per year. If you do not make at least 25 hours, it will be an additional $20.00 per hour fine for each hour missed and must be paid before member may hunt. All hours must be recorded in the sign in/out log to get your credit for working.

36. If anyone joins the club after all the work days have been completed, new member will pay for the 25 hours they missed before they may hunt. ($500.00)

PENALTIES:

37. Anyone violating any rules will come before the club officers for discussion and penalties unless otherwise stated in the rules.

1st offense $100.00
2nd offense $200.00 plus a 14 day suspension
3rd offense $300.00

“MEMBERSHIP AGREEMENT”


I understand all terms and conditions of BACKBONE MOUNTAIN HUNTING CLUB, INC., bylaws and rules completely.

I understand, that no member is guaranteed a membership from one year to the next.

I understand that club bylaws can be revised whenever the president or club officers decide it is in the best interest of the club.

I understand that membership dues will not always be the same price from one year to the next. Membership dues will increase as land rental prices increase. The president will decide what membership dues will be each year.

I agree never to involve BACKBONE MOUNTAIN HUNTING CLUB, INC., or club members or officers in any LEGAL SUITS of any kind.

I understand that when I get out of the club, I give up all privileges or benefits of the club.

I understand that if I destroy club property out of a violent act, I will be held liable for cost or repairs and will be automatically removed from membership and will never be allowed on club property again.


I, the undersigned, or any of my guest, hold Backbone Mountain Hunting Club, Inc., and/or all of its members completely harmless or liable of any damage due to fire, theft, or destruction, of any of my personal property left on club premises. This will include, but is not limited to, personal vehicles, campers, four wheelers, firearms, bow and arrows, tree stands, tools, clothing, etc…

I, the undersigned, have read and completely understand all rules of BACKBONE MOUNTAIN HUNTING CLUB, INC. I agree to obey any and all of these rules and bylaws. I understand that any violation of these rules or any violation of state game laws can and will result in ejection from the club with NO money refunded.
